Tarot Card Pull - December 4, 2024

Just for Fun Tarot Card Pull - December 4, 2024 It's a new month and that means a new (to the blog) tarot deck! This month, we are using The Magical Nordic Tarot by Jayne Wallace . This deck is beautiful to look at year-round, but it hits a certain note during the winter, especially as we lead up to Yule. We may continue using this deck through January, but we will see. We are starting the month with a two-card draw and this week's cards are the Knight of Wands and Page of Pentacles. Per the author's guidebook, the Knight of Wands  means: * Main Theme: Impulsiveness * Keywords: Hot-headed, unwilling to change, spontaneity, immaturity Per the author's guidebook, the Page of Pentacles  means: * Main Theme: New Experiences * Keywords: Listener, creative, passionate, organization Until next time, Lore Lovers, stay spooky💖 ~Lily Join our Discord community! Tarot Card Pull - November 27, 2024

Just for Fun Tarot Card Pull - November 27, 2024 Last week I pulled the cards, but only shared them on my socials because I was starting to come down with the crud, which I still have, but it's all good, I am moving forward like normal. And for this final week of November, I continued with my  Anime Tarot Deck and Guidebook: Explore the Archetypes, Symbolism, and Magic in Anime by Natasha Yglesias  deck for the last time before we move on to a more wintery deck in December. Seems fitting that for this last pull, we found ourselves with three Major Arcana cards. Per the author's guidebook, the  20 - Judgement  means: * Attributes: Judgement, Absolution, Rebirth * Reversed Attributes: Over-Criticism, Inner Saboteur, Introspection * Type: The Atoner * The Atoner appears in: Rurouni Kenshin (Kenshin Himura), Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Edward Elric), Trigun (Vash the Stampede and Rem Saverem), A Silent Voice (Shōya Ishida) Per the author's guidebook, the ...

Tarot Card Pull - November 6, 2024

Just for Fun Tarot Card Pull - November 6, 2024 This week I felt drawn to pull three cards instead of one, so I did! I used my  Anime Tarot Deck and Guidebook: Explore the Archetypes, Symbolism, and Magic in Anime by Natasha Yglesias , this deck is one of my newer ones and I am completely in love with it, both with the art and the interpretation. The cards pulled were the Five of Wands, Four of Wands, and XII (12) - The Hanged Man. (Before anyone says that the Five and Four are because the deck is new, I pulled all three from different parts of the deck and none of them were touching or close. Random draws are just like that sometimes.) Per the author's guidebook, the  Five of Wands  means: * Attributes: Adversity, Transition, Uncertainty, Competition, Tension * Reversed Attributes: Ignorance of Conflict, Resolution Per the author's guidebook, the  Four of Wands  means: * Attributes: Success, Security, Celebration, Rewards, Joy * Reversed Attributes: Self-Doubt,...

EMF Measurement - Lily's Lore Lingo

EMF Measurement - Lily's Lore Lingo EMF measurements are measurements of ambient (surrounding) electromagnetic fields that are performed using particular sensors or probes, such as EMF meters. These probes can be generally considered as antennas although with different characteristics. In fact, probes should not perturb the electromagnetic field and must prevent coupling and reflection as much as possible in order to obtain precise results. There are two main types of EMF measurements: broadband measurements: performed using a broadband probe, that is a device which senses any signal across a wide range of frequencies and is usually made with three independent diode detectors; frequency selective measurements: in which the measurement system consists of a field antenna and a frequency selective receiver or spectrum analyzer allowing to monitor the frequency range of interest. EMF probes may respond to fields only on one axis, or may be tri-axial, showing components of the field in ...

Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - October 30, 2024

Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - October 30, 2024 This week's card is the Nine of Cups, from one of my favorite decks,  Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani . This deck is "inspired by deities, folklore, & fairy tales from around the world" and there is a stunning  companion lore book  that I highly recommend, whether you own the tarot deck or just want a beautiful lore book for your collection. Per the author's guidebook, the  Nine of Cups  means: * Upright: Dreams realized, fulfillment, pleasure, recognition, triumph * Reversed: Greed, devastation, pessimism, addiction, self-loathing The card art represents Taj Al-Muluk and the Princess Dunya from Arabic folklore and the guidebook has a brief overview of the scene depicted. I love that this card was pulled at the end of October and at the end of fairy tale lore here at Lily's Lore and Legends. I know I rushed through everything a bit faster than I would like, that seems to be the norm for me lately, bu...

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Halloween 2024 Special Edition

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Halloween 2024 Special Edition Fairy tales are wonderful things, aren't they? Adorable stories of children learning valuable life lessons while encountering cute critters who sing and evil women offering tempting treats to innocent souls. But fairy tales weren't always so movie-like with bright songs and happily never afters. They really were rather grim, even before the brothers stepped in. This year for Halloween, I'm looking at fairy tales from around the world and attempting to see where their tales originally spun themselves into the local lore. Read the Lore Little Red Riding Hood Jack and the Beanstalk Hansel and Gretel Watch the Video Join the Conversation Head over to the Lily's Lore and Legends Discord server and tell me your thoughts on these or any other fairy tales you adore.  Tarot Pulls This month, I used my Tarot of the Divine deck for my just for fun tarot pulls as the deck is inspired by mythology, folklore, a...

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Hansel and Gretel

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Hansel and Gretel Fairy tales are wonderful things, aren't they? Adorable stories of children learning valuable life lessons while encountering cute critters who sing and evil women offering tempting treats to innocent souls. But fairy tales weren't always so movie-like with bright songs and happily never afters. They really were rather grim, even before the brothers stepped in. This year for Halloween, I'm looking at fairy tales from around the world and attempting to see where their tales originally spun themselves into the local lore.  For my third and final bit of lore, I decided on the favorite of a few readers - Hansel and Gretel. Hansel and Gretel Possible Origins Hansel and Gretel is a bit different than the other fairy tales we've looked at so far. Instead of having a single oral story, this one appears to a more of a patchwork of fairy tale tropes all rolled into one beautiful tale. The Grimms didn't even maintain th...

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Jack and the Beanstalk

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Jack and the Beanstalk Fairy tales are wonderful things, aren't they? Adorable stories of children learning valuable life lessons while encountering cute critters who sing and evil women offering tempting treats to innocent souls. But fairy tales weren't always so movie-like with bright songs and happily never afters. They really were rather grim, even before the brothers stepped in. This year for Halloween, I'm looking at fairy tales from around the world and attempting to see where their tales originally spun themselves into the local lore. After asking around for people's favorite tales, I decided on the interestingly delightful Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack and the Beanstalk Possible Origins Jack and the Beanstalk isn't a tale I have picked up recently, truth be told, last time I thought of it was when I watched "Once Upon a Time" but in my defense, Captain Hook was fiiiiinnnnneeeeeee af, oh wait, we aren't m...

Pocket Lore - Margate, South Africa

Pocket Lore - Margate, South Africa This is a fun piece of #pocketlore I found while scrolling Pinterest regarding a fight off the coast of Margate, South Africa between two orcas and a large, unknown creature on October 25, 1924. That particular post did not link back to a site and a quick search didn't help. Oh well. Or....oh whale 😂 (please don't delete me). Image text reads:  TODAY IN CREEPY HISTORY 25 OCTOBER 1924 MORNING - MARGATE, SOUTH AFRICA ACCORDING TO A NEWS ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE DECEMBER 27, 1924, EDITION OF THE LONDON'S DAILY MAIL ENTITLED "FISH LIKE A POLAR BEAR" ON THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 25, 1924 VISITORS ON THE BEACH IN MARGATE, SOUTH AFRICA WITNESS A STRANGE SIGHT. 2 KILLER WHALES ARE SEEN BATTLING AN UTTERLY BIZARRE CREATURE, WHILE IT APPEARS TO BE A HUGE FISH OR WHALE IT'S COVERED IN SNOW WHITE FUR AND HAS A TRUNK! Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - October 23, 2024

Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - October 23, 2024 This week's card is actually two cards, as the first jumped out of the deck mid-shuffle, the first is the Five of Cups and the second is the Eight of Coins, from one of my favorite decks,  Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani . This deck is "inspired by deities, folklore, & fairy tales from around the world" and there is a stunning  companion lore book  I will mention below. Per the author's guidebook, the Five of Cups means: * Upright: Self-pity, guilt, regret, stagnation, depression * Reversed: Moving on, forgiveness, acceptance, finding peace, encouragement The card art represents La Llorona from Mexican folklore and the guidebook has a brief overview of the scene depicted. Per the author's guidebook, the Eight of Coins means: * Upright: Craftmanship, commitment, determination, ambition, concentration * Reversed: Repetition, poor quality, rushing, bad reputation The card art represents the Six Swans from...

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Little Red Riding Hood

Fairy Tale Lore from Around the World - Little Red Riding Hood  Fairy tales are wonderful things, aren't they? Adorable stories of children learning valuable life lessons while encountering cute critters who sing and evil women offering tempting treats to innocent souls. But fairy tales weren't always so movie-like with bright songs and happily never afters. They really were rather grim, even before the brothers stepped in. This year for Halloween, I'm looking at fairy tales from around the world and attempting to see where their tales originally spun themselves into the local lore. And the first tale plucked out of my personal fairy tale book collection is Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood Possible Origins The origins of Red aren't as simple as people probably think. In fact, it's believed the oral tale that inspired the version we know today didn't even include people! But there was a wolf trying to feast on the helpless, which in this case were ...

YouTube Issues

YouTube Issues This was bound to happen, right? I start getting my head above water suddenly I have an issue that makes me realize I am nowhere near shore. But I got a notification that YouTube and I were permanently broken up and I had a good cry over it, when to beg them to take me back, only to find out they already had. That's embarrassing on both sides... But as a result, I realize I have a lot of friends, lore lovers, and Lore Lovers who I would greatly miss if this were to happen again and anywhere else. So please do me the biggest solid and sign up for my email list. Because while I didn't ugly cry this time, I will next time. And no one wants to see that happen. (Also, I really don't send that many emails, currently I'm at one every week or two max and you can pick your preference on alerts.) Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - September 23, 2024

Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - September 23, 2024 This week's card is the Eight of Wands and once again from the  Tarot Familiars deck by Lisa Parker . Per her booklet, the Eight of Wands means: * Normal position: Swift activity, speed, hastily made decisions. * Reversed position: Thorns of dispute, jealousy, harassment, quarrels, delay, discord. Interesting, interesting. I actually did a couple of card pulls today and every draw was a Wands card. And while not a reverse card, if you are a fan of discord and shameless plugs, join my free discord community, and let's talk lore! Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - September 16, 2024

Just for Fun - Tarot Card Pull - September 16, 2024 This week's card is the Ten of Swords and from one of my favorite decks, Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani . This deck is "inspired by deities, folklore, & fairy tales from around the world" and there is a stunning companion lore book I plan on discussing in an upcoming library look. Per the author's guidebook, the Ten of Swords means: * Upright: Bitterness, betrayal, rock bottom, martyrdom, severing ties * Reversed: Surviving disaster, recovery, regeneration, the inevitable The card art represents Sedna from Inuit Mythology and the guidebook has a brief overview of the scene depicted. Click here for more information on Sedna and all her lore. We all see what we need to in the meaning of the cards. This could be seen as a "negative" card meaning, but I don't like to think in that way. When we hit our bottom, the only place to go is up (don't be that person and say you can move to the side ...
