  Lily's Lore Lingo - What is a Dogman? Michigan Dogman In folklore, the Michigan Dogman was a creature allegedly witnessed in 1887 in Wexford County, Michigan, United States. It was described as a seven-foot tall, blue-eyed, or amber-eyed bipedal canine-like animal with the torso of a man and a fearsome howl that sounds like a human scream. According to legends, the Michigan Dogman appears in a ten-year cycle that falls on years ending in 7 and can be deterred by clapping loudly. Sightings have been reported in several locations throughout Michigan, primarily in the northwestern quadrant of the Lower Peninsula. The original text reads: MAN, FOUR MONTHS DEAD, TRIES TO GET OUT OF COFFIN  With an eastbound Santa Fe passenger train running at full speed out of Needles yesterday the express agent and baggagemen were so badly scared by the movements of a corpse in the baggage car that they would have deserted the car had it not been what is known as a blind baggage, according to the statement of a passenger who arrived here last night, says the Prescott Courier. The corpse was being shipped from California to Ohio for interment. The body was that of a man who died four months ago.
